We have a situation in Michigan where our governor has committed the ultimate abuse of power. He has given himself the ability to fire our local elected officials and replace them with an emergency financial manager. Aside from the ridiculous pay he receives he wields the ability to fire mayors and city managers allowing him unilateral municipal control. So far governor Snyder has enacted this measure in several cities across Michigan.
Now these emergency managers are exercising their power. Firing dozens of state employees abrogating contracts and undermining democracy as we know it.
Now they turn their power on to our natural recourses. Recently our state legislature decided their trust for Snyder’s management of our recourses was non existant; so much so that they handed over management of our state’s greatest treasure, the great lakes, from snyder to the local government.
Acting almost strategically the EFM for Pontiac has decided that the city will be privatizing water. If you don’t find this outrageous, maybe you would like to consider the next point to this. The firm that Pontiac’s water will be handed over to has been previously found in violation of “The Clean Air and Water Act”. Who can cry foul against our governor as he is one of the most powerful state elected officials in the country. He holds absolute power and its absolutely corrupt.
