Its been a while since I’ve kept up with this blog so I’ll fill you all in on what you’ve missed and how the Dems are playing lately.
The economy is rebounding.
Unemployment is down.
Iraq is in Iraqi hands and costing us nothing. Republicans respond by starting a politically unilateral war with Iran (despite the Syrian human rights catastrophe).
Mitt still hasn’t emerged as his party’s candidate. (the RNC convention will most likely be brokered:more on that later.
Republicans are at war with women and fighting to implement their version of christian shariah law. They are also still making asses of themselves in congress.
we slowly move toward November.

THE 53% MYTH: BELOW. The 53% Reality: Attack the poor with a campaign of misinformation ->
In response to the growing 99 Percentmovement that has tapped into the energy of Occupy Wall Street to unleash nationwide protests against economic inequality, a smattering of right-wing bloggers led by Erick Erickson and Josh Trevino along with conservative filmmaker Mike Wilson have created a new tumblr about the “53 percent.”
The tumblr features various people explaining their economic circumstances and often boasting of being self-made and not needing help from anyone. The flippant disclaimer for the tumblr explains that the 53 percent number was chosen because the site’s originators believe that this is the percentage of Americans that pay taxes:
So, like, when you’re, like, community organizing for solidarity and stuff, it’s totally cool to have this little hashtaggy thingy when you’re on twitter, so other people, like, totally know what you’re talking about and stuff. So if you’re, like, totally gonna spread the word about being one of the 53% of people who actually, like, pay taxes in America and don’t just, like, hang out protesting stuff all day… like, here’s the hashtaggy thingy. See you at the protest! #iamthe53
But the founding principles of the tumblr and the “53 percent” meme itself is flawed. It is true that 47 percent of Americans did not pay net federal income taxes in 2009 — the number is unusually high because of the depression in incomes following the recession — but it is completely false that only 53 percent of Americans pay taxes.
For example, if you look at state and local taxes, the working poor actually pay a higher percentage of their income in these taxes in every state except for Vermont. In “Alabama, for example, low-income families (which make less than $13,000) pay 11 percent of their income in state and local taxes, while those making more than $229,000 pay just 4 percent.”
And it is worth noting that Americans who are too poor to be asked to pay net federal income taxes are not a good target for those complaining that some aren’t paying their fair share. If there’s one group of Americans that is paying less and less as the median American family is asked to pay more, it’s the super-wealthy. As this chart from Wealth for the Common Good shows, the top 400 taxpayers — who have more wealth
than half of all Americans combined — are paying lower taxes than they have in a generation, as their tax responsibilities have slowly collapsed since the New Deal era as working families have been asked to pay more and more:

As a response to the great depression we built a wall of entitlements. As a response to the great recession there is a political movement that seeks to dismantle our social safety net and entirely restrict our government’s ability to provide quality oversight and regulation.

SNL Hits a Homerun on the Republican Debate.
I hear all this, oh this is class warfare, no! There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody. You built a factory out there — good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid forYou didn’t have to worry that maurauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory… Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea — God Bless! Keep a Big Hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.
President Barack Obama challenged Congress to put the good of the nation over political benefit and pass a huge jobs plan he proposed tonight.
if I may,
hurricane Irene which was anticipated as a potential disaster; was according to some a sign from g-d. however it would seem that g-d spared America, more specifically Washington DC. I suppose this is a sign of approval and not condemnation of the “track” we are on. however, it would seem that the devastating Texas wildfire could also be interpreted as a sign of god as we finally have a republican from Texas(hoorah) throwing his hat (cowboy) in the ring. yet those who are so apt to invoke and interpret g-d’s messages have been hesitant to do so.
this can only mean one thing…
in addition to a primary for a suitable presidential candidate, republicans will also be holding a primary for a new g-d.
