fyeahdemocrats

good work to all those out there who contributed, volunteered, supported, and voted for democrats. yesterday was a big win for the democratic party. sadly a race i did all i could for came down 45:50. living in “michigan’s second most conversative district” i still feel proud about that showing, and am elated at the expression of progressive politics.

Checking in:

Its been a while since I’ve kept up with this blog so I’ll fill you all in on what you’ve missed and how the Dems are playing lately.

The economy is rebounding.
Unemployment is down.
Iraq is in Iraqi hands and costing us nothing. Republicans respond by starting a politically unilateral war with Iran (despite the Syrian human rights catastrophe).
Mitt still hasn’t emerged as his party’s candidate. (the RNC convention will most likely be brokered:more on that later.
and
Republicans are at war with women and fighting to implement their version of christian shariah law. They are also still making asses of themselves in congress.

and so…

we slowly move toward November.

Nice Guys Finish Last

prediction: with the taste of near victory in his mouth, santorum loses god and gets bloodthirsty in some campaigning against mitt.

-Mitt’s dentist only uses the finest gold.
In other news, I think the dems are going Barry-O for their nomination. While the R’s managed to pick a guy who can’t win his state in a senate reelection. It’ll be great to see if Santorum can win New Hampshire (or Pennsylvania’s) nomination by electorate rather than caucus.Unfortunately tonight I realized; win or loss, I’m going to see these already ripened nominating apples in future Republican Presidential nominations. Which leads me to my other realization; win or loss, Mitt only gives victory speeches.
tonights fact: Herman Cain received 58 votes. In fairness, most were from lunchladies at the cafeteria where the caucus was held in favor of “Pizza USA”

remember that whole right to assemble, right to free speech we thing we put at the beginning of the bill of rights? … well, turns out - fuck it.

Thanks Mayor Bloomberg and NY Supreme Court Justice Michael Stallman for showing us how to directly wage class warfare over your obligations as public servants.

Libya? Lifeline? Phone my campaign manager.

the whole Herman Cain interview stumble reveals, most of all, how hollow conservative opposition to the President is.

they hear the name Obama and they immediately knee jerk into the standard “oppose”; regardless of how informed they are of how events transpired or what his stance on policy is.

this isn’t just a trend for conservatives (even though its totally left our country shit out of luck in terms of a productive Congress); but its also the trend for anti establishment liberals, libertarians, political-hipsters, non conformists, etc.

dissent is a form of patriotism, but it should be the result of an the inability to reason out favorable understanding; not default.

compromise makes great leadership.

thanks Herman, for revealing how transparent (and hollow) your logic is.

Reasons to fear Barack Obama

Dick Cheney (pre 2008 election): if Obama is elected there will be another terrorist attack on America.

Mitt Romney (pre 2012 election): if Obama is reelected Iran will get a nuke.

barackobama:

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer: “The American Jobs Act is being blocked by Republicans in the Senate who have voted in unison against these common-sense, broadly supported proposals, and Republicans in the House refuse to even give the bill a vote. Senate Republicans have offered their own alternative as an excuse to oppose the President’s plan, but a look at them side by side leads to only one conclusion: one is truly a jobs plan, and one is not.”

DC Decoder has looked at the GOP proposal twice, once for its rather slim pickings in terms of new proposals and a second time through the lens of Washington Post Fact Checker Glenn Kessler’s work (which was not kind to the bill.)
In terms of Obama’s plan, you can see how it went down in flames here - and the shoddy math employed to discount it here.

does it make sense?

republicans demonize sharia law yet want to restrict abortion on religious grounds.
